The Simple Fireplace Design

I’m all about ‘Simple.’ There are so many design ideas online for your fireplace. When we first began looking at decor and design ideas for the fireplace, I was feeling slightly overwhelmed. I liked a great majority of the photos we saw, but I really LOVED one look.

My overall idea of the fireplace was to be simple; that the decor would stand out best on a simple designed fireplace. I love the look we went with. It was not expensive and really looks great with the theme we are doing in our home.

So here are some before pics of the corner fireplace. The walls were a gorgeous dark blue gray. I loved that color, but it was time for a change. We opted for the (back then) in-style trending tan. I still love the tan look, BUT … I’m changing our wall color for the entire home. (More on that in a coming post).

We were on a granite tile search and became lucky with the clearance section at Menards. Finding a black granite tile with a little splash of gray was perfect for completing  our idea of a simple fireplace.

I love how it turned out. Perfectly Simple. The border of the fireplace was just 2×4’s that we painted black. Again, simple and very easy to do.

Slowly, our 1970’s Ranch House is becoming a gorgeous Rustic Modern Home! Onto the next project!!
